Neuropeptides
Semax
What is it?
Semax is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide related to an ACTH fragment with an additional peptide sequence. It has been investigated in neurobiological research. It should not be equated with full-length ACTH or with a general cognitive-enhancement treatment.
How it is studied
Proposed actions include effects on neuropeptide metabolism and cellular signalling. A study of human-serum enzymes examined inhibition of enkephalin-degrading activity by Semax and Selank. Such biochemical findings help generate mechanistic hypotheses but do not establish a reliable clinical effect.
What the evidence shows
Biodegradation studies have investigated how Semax breaks down and which fragments arise in experimental systems. These data show why the identity of the parent peptide and its metabolites matter. They do not demonstrate improved memory, focus or recovery from a supplier vial.
Limitations & safety context
Biochemical activity, animal behaviour and human clinical efficacy are separate levels of evidence. Route and formulation differences also matter. The attachment does not include a sequence certificate, finished medicinal formulation or controlled trial of its listed material.
