PNC-27
What is it?
PNC-27 is a chimeric peptide combining a p53-derived region with a membrane-penetrating sequence. It has been investigated in laboratory cancer-cell research. Its name refers to an experimental molecule, not an established cancer medicine.
How it is studied
Research examines interactions with HDM-2 / MDM2 at cell membranes and the formation of membrane pores in selected experimental cancer cells. This differs from simply supplying p53 protein or proving a clinical antitumour effect.
What the evidence shows
An original PNAS study examined molecular conformation and cell killing in cancer-cell lines alongside non-transformed cell controls. Further structural work explored the proposed HDM-2 interaction. These controlled experiments are preclinical findings rather than evidence of tumour treatment in people.
Limitations & safety context
A compound that damages cells in culture can have uncharacterised toxicity in an organism. Selectivity in a laboratory experiment does not establish human safety or therapeutic selectivity. The attachment does not provide clinical trial evidence or validate the PC5 and PC10 materials.
