Metabolic signalling
Retatrutide
What is it?
Retatrutide is a synthetic peptide studied for simultaneous activity at GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptors. These three targets distinguish it from single- and dual-receptor incretin compounds. The codes RT10 and RT30 describe listed vial contents, not different receptor mechanisms.
How it is studied
GIP and GLP-1 signalling contribute to glucose regulation and appetite pathways. Glucagon-receptor activity adds a different metabolic signal. The balance of these actions must be assessed experimentally: a receptor profile alone cannot predict an individual outcome or show whether weight change is entirely fat loss.
What the evidence shows
A randomised phase 2 trial published in 2023 evaluated body-weight change over 48 weeks in adults with obesity or overweight and a weight-related condition. Weight reduction exceeded placebo under the trial conditions. Gastrointestinal events were common, and increases in heart rate were observed. Trial participants, investigational medicine and follow-up were controlled.
Limitations & safety context
This page describes that published trial, not a live regulatory-status update or instructions for personal use. Trial findings do not verify the identity, purity or safety of independently supplied vials. The attachment provides quantities but no batch-specific analytical results, sterility evidence or stability data.
